It is genuinely new thinking; a rarity in otherwise staid art history, proposing more than one model of what it is that art does and why it matters today. More than merely accessible, this is compelling reading, unpacking complex philosophically-driven theory through concrete analysis of art works yoked to defining political and cultural events.
