I feel like I was an important part of this book. I feel like the spine, despite it being an ebook, and me being as spineless as a bowl of pudding. Grab a spoon and see for yourself.

In a blind taste test, nine out of ten Helen Kellers recommended this book. The tenth Helen Keller, well, she probably didn’t hear the question.

In a separate blindfold study, readers were asked to rate this book. All eight of the kidnap victims said this book is the most enjoyable part of their last six days in my basement, and all rated it five stars—without even needing to be tortured that much to produce the desired answers.

Literally Life Changing

I rate this in the top 3 books I have ever read. I ran across this as graduate assistant and taught problem solving class structured around it. The design process it teaches underpins all human endeavors. It is useful to think of everything in our culture as a design, i.e., a response to a problem, a solution. Our task in innovation is to manage cycles of creation and destruction, the warp and woof of adaptation and innovation. In my mind, this book has no peer in empowering one to navigate this space.

If I controlled the world, design process would be taught right along side of reading, writing, math and science. Design is the overarching, integrative, unifying thought process needed to plow through the many muddles of our contemporary era. We don't need ideology, we need design methodology (for everyone).

Read this book and take it seriously. Apply it to your life and profession. It will open your eyes to new possibilities, and empower you to find an approach to difficult challenges. You will no longer think in nouns, but more in verbs. There are no solutions, only solutioning. Understanding this is liberating.

This book, if you really get it, is tranformational. When I taught these methods, the "A" students rebelled, wanting me to provide the same old fixed star answers so that they might report them back to me on tests. The smartest students, not "A" students, were ignited by the prospect of "answering", rather than being furnished the answers. Design process is the management of "answering", while understanding that the answers will never be perfect and must be tuned and tinkered along the way.

Become a life designer, not a solution subscriber. Get this book. It has been pivotal in my life. Perhaps the most important book I ever read. Teach it to your children and grandchildren. Use this design approach to manage change and find solutions. It works.

While there are many reviews on this book already, Here are my two cents.

The Universal traveller is a book about ways and methods to get inspired, How to turn inspiration into idea's, and how to then moake those ideas a reality. It even goes beyond that, its kind of a 'design process for life' book.

This book is a must read for you if you want to stimulate your mind, it doesnt matter who you are or what you may be doing, this book has something for you.A must read for Design students in particular, if possible get your own copy.

If there is one book I would reccomend to anyone in the field of problem solving (we all are in some way), then this would be it.

All people have problems in life that should be solved. But most of us have an intuitive approach to solving the problem and neglecting the analytical component that is perhaps most important to carefully approaching the problem. This book is intended to help us in this way. The book is written in an innovative way, and printed in an unusual format that is very suitable for its content.

I read it for more than four years (now read it again), and still think this is one of the most useful books I've read.

I haven't read too many romance paranormal books, so I don't have a lot to compare to, but if the speed at which I read this counts for anything...
I started when I crawled into bed, and read till my eyes could no longer stay open. I resumed and finished reading when my husband's alarm went off and he got up to shower. As I said, this is a new genre for me, but it caught my attention and held on tight the whole ride. Well-written, fun, exciting, and just the right amount of steam (I get bored with too many copy and paste love scenes and I usually start skipping pages--not this one though). I hope to read more about the Therian agents.

Ninety minutes after purchasing this book, I had it read. I even took it with me to the kitchen while I fixed dinner!
Agent Chase Payne is a lion shapeshifter, and works for the Therian Council to keep their world from being exposed to humans. Jacob Oliver is Chase's best friend and boss. Chase swore to never mate and put himself through the pain his father suffered when his mother died. But when he sees how Lora Oliver has grown up into a gorgeous woman, he has to struggle to remember she's his best friend's little sister..
Lora Oliver trained to be a Therian agent without her brother's knowledge. He finds out after she's been accepted with the agency, and places her on Chase's team. Lora has believed Chase is her mate since she was nine or ten years old. Now at 22 years old, she's determined to be strong and hold her feelings in. Only she wasn't prepared for the pull towards Chase to be even stronger now. After she caves and kisses Chase, he realizes she's his true mate. He fights to deny the pull while they go out on dangerous missions, and all he can think about is sex with her, or protecting her.
It's intense, it's hot and steamy, it's heartbreaking here and there. It's a must read. I can't wait to read Turning Payne.

True Love At Last

I loved this shifter love story. It brought into play different facts around the myths of the shifter world. It showed some ideas that were unusual. Lara had loved Chase since she was ten and knew he was supposed to be her mate. He didn't want a mate because he saw how his Dad had suffered when his Mom died. Their connection was so strong they couldn't stay away from each other.

About the Author
Harold Coyle is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, Class of ’74, the Armor Officers Basic Course at Fort Knox, Ky, the Infantry Officer’s Advance Course at Fort Benning, Ga, and the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Ks. He served in Germany from January 1975 to December 1979 with 3rd Battalion, 68th Armor, which was stationed at Sullivan Barracks outside the town of K�fertal. During this time he commanded Company A / 3-68 Armor which was attached to 2nd Battalion, 13th Infantry for training and wartime contingencies. Other assignments included M-1 Branch chief, Weapons Department of the Armor School at Fort Knox; advisor to the National Guard with Readiness Group Devens; assistant operations officer with the Combined Field Army in Korea; G-3 Training officer with the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood; Task Force Operations officer for 1st of the 32nd Armor; admin officer and instructor for the Command and General Staff College’s Combat Studies Institute; and executive officer to the Deputy Commanding General of the 3rd Army during Desert Storm.

Read the hardcover or paperback version. This digital version is Butchered.

I read this book in paperback when it first came out and enjoyed it. However, the digital version is simply butchered.
The novel was not scanned and digitized, it was transcribed with grammatical errors galore.
For those thinking of getting the kindle version be advised that words like "down" has been replaced with clown. And "thing" replaced with thong.

Of all digital books, this one has been through a meat grinder and I would recommend spending the time with the printed version than the digital version.

Example. from the book in my lap. "Tessman greeted Harrert and led him and the medic to where the lieutenant was lying, face down," Kindle excerpt, "Tessman, who greeted Harrert, led him and the medic to where the lieutenant was laying next to 21 facedown on the crew had thrown down on the ground."
It is not just an issue with the wrong words inserted, it is the fact that sentences are restructured and punctuated in ways that do not reflect the original print.

Whoever transcribed this book to digital needs to be fired and banned from transcribing.

Don't buy the digital format!

My two star rating is not for Lt. Col. Coyle's writing; his work is five star. My poor rating is for the appalling formatting of an otherwise outstanding novel. I first read 'Team Yankee' when it came out in the mid-80's and have re-read it five times since - it's that good. I've waited patiently for the book to appear in Kindle format and was quite happy when it did; it had been a few years since I last read the book and with its appearance in Kindle format, I was anxious to devour it again. So, it was with great disappointment that within just a few pages I found that the transition from the printed page to digital format had not been a success. In fact, it is an abysmal failure. Jumping from about a 10-point, single-spaced text to 12-point double-spaced text at almost every other page, there are entire paragraphs missing, along complete descriptions and character thought-lines, and pages are duplicated frequently while others are truncated. Words are misspelled or are totally inappropriate for some sentences, faults missing in the print version. In short, the digital version of this book is a disaster and the perpetrators should be deeply chagrined. Amazon, you should likewise be chastised for allowing such a mess to be inflicted on your customers at $8 a whack. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good 'what if' novel, but until the digital format is repaired, I only recommend the printed version.

If I were Harold Coyle, I would be livid.

Overall a well-written military novel, falling into the "techo-thriller" genre made popular by Tom Clancy. Now that I think about it, it reminds me of a not-as-well-written version of Red Storm Rising. The reason for the three stars is the transcription (at least, I HOPE its the transcription) - this was butchered. SLAUGHTERED. Butchered to the point where it's hard to read. Butchered to the point where I reread sentences 3 or 4 times to make sure I'm not having a stroke because it literally makes no sense. Typos, grammatical errors, sentence fragments, transposition of numbers and letters, the list goes on - whoever edited/transcribed this should be taken out back and roughed up. Then the person who APPROVED this Kindle version should be taken out back and roughed up even worse.

If I were Harold Coyle, I would be livid.

Also, the continued use of the phrase "third point of contact" just got tired and annoying after the second or third time. Just say ass like a normal soldier would, geez.

Book itself - 4 stars. Editorial/transcriptional butchering - 1 star. I rounded it up to 3.

Stephen L. Herman is a retired electrician and teacher with more than 30 years of experience to his credit. Sloppy on basic theory

This book is required reading for electrical apprentices in Canada. It has lots of practical information and illustrations that are good for the most part. However, I can't let the author off the hook for his incredibly sloppy treatment (poor understanding?) of basic theory. I blame this author for the fact that many electrical instructors are equally foggy on rudimentary theory and sloppy in their use of terminology, and pass their confusion on to generation after generation of students.

A small example: the book states that the joule is the SI equivalent of the watt -- completely, inexcuseably fictional -- and then on the very next page it states a legitimate definition of a joule as being one watt-second. What newbie student needs this? The confusion between energy and power (the rate of energy conversion or work being done) rears its head elsewhere, e.g. in questions like "How many watts of heat are produced when... blah blah blah."

The book's descriptions of atomic structure might've passed muster some decades ago, but they're sorely in need of a refresh.

No appreciation is shown for the proper use of significant figures in calculations. The results of many of the calculations (unless they happen to produce a nice integer result) are stated arbitrarily to three decimal places, e.g. 120*0.0667 = 8.004. This precision isn't justified, and the irony is that a properly-rounded result would actually be more accurate. To compound the problem, solutions frequently involve the calculation of unneeded intermediate results, incurring cumulative errors. Why not fully solve the algebraic expressions for the desired unknowns before plugging in numbers?

I know lots of folks would think me too critical of "details" that aren't really going to affect the careers of the future electricians who are forced to buy this thing. My response is that there is no upside to, or excuse for teaching theory badly. It only causes unnecessary confusion. With respect to my complaint about significant figures, the author misses an opportunity to teach valuable lessons to people who will be making measurements in the field (using instruments with finite accuracy) about being reasonable in the conclusions they draw from those measurements.

The really sad thing is that this could be an excellent text if the author or publisher would let one knowledgeable physics major or electrical engineer go through the book and clean it up. But as long as they have a captive audience, why bother?

GEORG FEUERSTEIN (1947-2012) was was a German-Canadian Indologist specializing in yoga. He authored over thirty books on mysticism, yoga, Tantra, and Hinduism. He translated, among other traditional texts, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad-Gita.

Yoga from a Western Psychological approach, by one of the foremost Yoga Scholar-Practitioner of the XX century.

A masterful synthesis of east and west perspectives of the mind, well written, thoroughly informed, and in a sobrious approach.
Georg Feuerstein stands as one of the foremost scholars-practitioners of Yoga of the XX century, acknowledged not only in the west, but also in highly learned circles of native indian scholars. His scope and profoundity on eastern traditions from a western psychological and philosophical outlook can only be compared with Carl Gustav Jung research (The Psychology of Kundalini Yoga, Psychology of Religion, Psychology and the East) and Herbert Guenther (From Reductionism to Creativity, Matrix of Mystery, Philosophy and Psychology in th Abhidharma), adding that he was an experienced and mature practitioner of Yoga, not only a scholar. He really had reached the goal anticipated by Henri Bergson, that a true philosopher has to know reality no only with his mind, but also with his soul.

An Excellent Read!

Georg has written an excellent book, for understanding Psychology from the Yogic Perspective. There is so much material on Asana and the Physical Practice of Yoga. This work is a breath of fresh air, and returns us to the original Yoga, which was not about mastery of the body only, by mastery of the Self, the mind, the emotions. Without meditation, Yoga is merely exercise. Georg dives deep not only into the Mental Aspects of yoga, (with many references to scientific studies), but also the concept of Energy Anatomy- that we have "layers" of being- i.e. physical, energetic, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, etc.... and explains how true Yoga Practice is about integration.

An Essential Book in Understanding the Real Yoga Tradition

If you are interested in real yoga then you cannot go past Georg Feuerstein in exploring the depths of this ancient tradition. Georg dedicated his life to the study of yoga and all of his books are enlightening and go to a depth on the subject that is unmatched. This book is an advanced study of yoga and is probably better to read after you have read "The Yoga Tradition" by him. His work is at a high level, it is scholarly and intuitive. When I read Georg's books I get the feeling that he really embodied the esoteric axiom of the "intellectual intuition" that a master exhibits. When I teach and mention the tradition of yoga I always point people in the direction of his books. Hopefully those people interested in just the materialist yoga that is developing in the world will one day be brought back to the inner tradition of yoga and follow its philosophical tenets. This book is a gem and one that I cherish.
